Tis the season to talk about Icelandic yarn and also my yarn. (Honestly its always the season to talk about my yarn) Valkyrie Fiber available at @garnigangi

Easy way to elevate a basic sweatshirt- okay maybe not easy- but totally doable

I’m posting this sweater again because I love it. And I want to show it off because the two colorways used, Hraun and Hádegisblóm look absolutely incredible together.

And also…The Nordic Gods(esses) were with me and my skin looks insanely good and I’m wearing zero makeup.

Bláa Lónid | Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon color was one that I really had to get right. It’s one of Iceland‘s most famous landmarks and even if you haven’t seen it in person chances are you’ve seen it in photos. So sveina and I color tested so many skins to get it just right and finally we came up with with a skin of yarn that blended right into our reference photos. If you can’t visit Iceland, you can make something out of the blue Lagoon yarn and wear little bit of this magical country through this colorway

The wool comes straight from Iceland and is then spun into life in New York before being brought home with me to Portland, where it’s dyed and shipped out to you.

Little Raincloud | Lítil Regnský

This one surprised us, like the kind of sky you get in Iceland when you think it’s clearing… and then it really isn’t.

Named for the low, creeping clouds that hang over the fjords and refuse to leave.

It’s gentle, weird, but beautiful, and it makes the landscape look a little more dramatic.

So, we made lava.

Not literally, but with the power of colour theory, my Bob Ross energy and @sveinabjork’s talents as the high priestess of yarn dyeing, we somehow got it to land on a true tomato red, which, if you know anything about dyeing, is basically witchcraft. Red always runs too blue or too orange. But this? Perfection.

We’re both super proud of it. Like “show your mom” proud. So our Lava Skeins will be available soon. Follow us so you know when to spend your money.

Also, for your Icelandic lesson of the day: rauður = red, appelsínugulur = orange-orange (seriously).
